Small Fort Bend County Community

Farms & Ranches in Beasley, TX

Welcome to Beasley, a small Fort Bend County city with railroad roots and a quiet, country setting southwest of Houston.

Beasley is a small city in Fort Bend County, Texas, within the Houston–Sugar Land metropolitan area. With a population of about 600, it is one of the county's smaller incorporated communities, set in the flat agricultural country southwest of Houston. The city's roots are tied to the railroad. In the mid-1890s, Cecil A. Beasley, a Richmond banker and former railroad agent, laid out the town along the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railway, first naming it Dyer for Isabel Dyer, whom he later married. When it was found that another community already used the name Dyer, the town was renamed Beasley. A depot on the New York, Texas and Mexican Railway, nicknamed the Macaroni Line for its Italian immigrant construction crews, served the area during the railroad era. Beasley incorporated as a city in 1970. Today Beasley is a quiet, semi-rural community. State Highway Loop 540 runs through the city from northeast to southwest, and U.S. Highway 90 passes nearby, keeping the community connected to Richmond, Rosenberg, and the wider Houston region. Public school students attend Lamar Consolidated ISD, which operates Beasley Elementary in the city. Housing here tends toward modest single-family homes and rural acreage rather than dense subdivisions, and residents value space, quiet, and the sense of a close-knit small town. The nearby Brazos River lowlands and working farmland frame the landscape, and the town's main roads carry a steady but unhurried pace. The community appeals to people who want a country setting with a short drive to the Houston area's employment and services. Its small scale, railroad heritage, and agricultural surroundings distinguish it from the large master-planned suburbs that characterize much of Fort Bend County.
