Brock is an incorporated town in Parker County, Texas, in the southwestern part of the county, about 11 miles southwest of Weatherford and west of the Fort Worth area. It is a small community whose identity is closely tied to its school district and its rural ranching heritage. The community traces its beginnings to the 1870s, when John Brock, a carpenter and cabinetmaker, purchased land in the area, and the Maddux family arrived from Arkansas. Settlers established a church and school early on, and Brock grew as a farm-and-ranch crossroads along what is now Farm Road 1543. For more than a century it remained an unincorporated rural community serving the surrounding countryside. In 2017, the community incorporated as a town, merging Brock and Brock West to avert annexation by nearby Weatherford and secure its independent status. Incorporation reflected the area's growth and its residents' interest in local control as development spread outward from the Fort Worth metropolitan area. Today Brock is best known for the Brock Independent School District, a small rural district whose schools—including Brock High School—anchor community life and draw families seeking a country setting with a locally focused school system. The district serves a wide surrounding area, and the town's growth is tied to its reputation as a desirable rural school district within commuting range of Weatherford and the western Metroplex. The setting remains distinctly rural: ranchland, hayfields, and scattered homes along Farm Road 1543 and the surrounding county roads. Weatherford, the county seat, anchors the area with its courthouse square, shopping, and services, while Interstate 20 provides the principal route toward Fort Worth and the Dallas–Fort Worth region. For residents, Brock offers a quiet, small-town pace with the conveniences of a growing North Texas county close at hand.
