Star Harbor is a small incorporated city in northwestern Henderson County, Texas, on the southern end of Cedar Creek Reservoir. The city occupies a peninsula on the east side of the lake, about half a mile north of the reservoir's dam, with the main body of the lake to its south, west, and north. It sits on Farm Road 3062, roughly twelve miles northwest of Athens, the county seat, and about four miles northwest of Malakoff. The 2020 census counted 482 residents. The community is a product of the reservoir. Cedar Creek Reservoir was built in the mid-1960s, and Star Harbor grew up afterward as a residential retreat on its shores. The city incorporated in the late 1970s, when its reported population was under 100, and has grown steadily since as lakefront and near-lake homes attracted retirees and families.
